About Me
Happy New Year! I had a great vacation with my family in Europe, and am currently busy preparing for the Florida Winter schools. I am excited for the upcoming season: working on bettering my own game, having a full schedule of junior golf events and expanding my coaching business.
I hope you had a great holiday! My family and I met at my mom's house in Italy for our last Christmas in Italy before mom retires back to the states. My sister, nephew Mason, Lana, Katrina, and Justin all made the trip. We skied the Dolomites, shopped the Christmas markets and traveled locally from Ljubljana to Venice. After leaving northern Italy, we traveled through Rome, Paris and London. One of the many highlights I have to share was a secret tour we took around Rome. We saw Michelangelo's original tomb, an actual Michelangelo in a nondescript church, and where Galileo studied and ultimately pronounced that the world was not flat. As the end of tour the guide took 30 of us through a busy restaurant (between tables and down hidden steps) to an area of exposed brick where supplies were stored. We were actually standing in the Pompeii Theater where Julius Caesar took his last steps before being executed. AMAZING!
Florida SchoolThe Florida Winter schools are shaping up well. There are still a couple of open spots in the first week of February, but all the other weeks are sold out. We have added one day at Reunion for instruction and golf. The itinerary is a little different this year: On Thursday mornings we will play 9 holes early before the instruction begins. It will give us a chance to evaluate each player's strengths and areas that need improvement. This year we will focus on how to practice and what to practice. Each student will leave Florida School with his or her report card so they can continue to improve on their game when they get home. As always, our goal is for you to carry your improved golf game into the spring and summer seasons after you've left winter golf school. If you are interested in an open spot during the week of Feb 4-7 let me know.
Junior GolfThe Boys and Girls Golf Club looks to be another good year. Last year we had a handful of
kids achieve their white hats. The white hat signifies advanced fitness and golf skills. The
thresholds are difficult, so when kids attain these goals it’s only after hard work.
Congratulations to our white hat members. This year we hope to have a few more achieve
white hat status and hopefully a few will get blue hats.
Our events schedule is out, starting with Spring Break Camp 3/28-4/1.
Our Open House is 4/16.
The first tournament is our Match Play event on the weekend of 4/23.

Chris Custom Coaching
Last year I launched my private coaching business.
It is a coaching model not affiliated with Paint Branch or
the University of Maryland. I assist High School golfers who
want to reach their potential and play in college. I prepared kids
for the college expectations and tournament scheduling.
I attended a number of tournament events with my players.
I coached adult players to lower scores through assessment,
practice protocols and on-course evaluation.
We played a number of different courses to provide different
conditions and experiences.
I saw incredible improvement with Ryan winning the MAPGA
tournament of Champions and Steve dropping 6 shots off his
handicap. If you are interested let me know.

EquipmentEquipment. Is your equipment made for you? I am not going to tell you that you need to spend a pot full of money on the most expensive equipment. But I do think it is important that your equipment is fit for you. For example: if you have a regular shaft in your driver and can wing it more than 90 mph it may be hindering your consistency or if your grips are a couple of years old they may be requiring more grip pressure to control and costing you speed. If you are playing a distance ball and want to know why your ball doesn’t stop on the greens, it is not supposed to. There are affordable good golf balls. You should fit your ball from around the green, if you get one that goes 5 yards further it won’t matter if it doesn’t perform around the greens.
Get your equipment right for this season, start with changing your grips. I will be at the PGA Merchandise show next week checking out the latest and greatest. There are a number of good equipment options that are a couple of years old that we can find a fair deal on. If you have equipment questions let me know.
We are starting a new Clinic Series this year with a rotation of Short Game, Power and Scoring. More to come on the details.
